Matrix of ChristianityAbstractFreud postulated a Graeco-Roman origin of the Christ-myth, but this paper firmly roots the new development in its Jewish context. The dynamics of the Christian religion are exposed as a regressive complexification of Judaism under the traumatic impingement of imploding Roman power.
